Beginners are especially welcome as it will be henna immersion. IT is an ideal way to learn by seeing, hearing, and doing. Using several learning modalities.
It is lots of fun and you don't even know you are learning while you are sitting around.
check back for more info. after we have time to organize things more .

This is very exciting! I would love to attend this event. Can't wait to hear more.
We will start on Friday morning with the basics of henna mixing recipes , tried and true.
then move on to applicators, and technique on how to roll cones.
Sometime during the weekend we will work on all aspects of henna, business, events, small and large, and spend lots of time on whatever needs attention.
We hope to have Neeta teach bridal technique, and
Justine will teach gulf coast style during the weekend.
Jessica will teach symmetry and negative space and we will have two fabulous henna business related crafts classes on saturday.
In between we may be lucky to have belly dance exercise classes, and henna each other non stop.
I am excited about all this and need to get through the major festivals and grad nights before I can make further definative plans,

Linda, it would be so great if you could come.
And what fun to go to a body art convention.
I thinkyou know the answer to your dilemma, make your henna thin.
When I make ours, I really do measure, just like cooking it is a chemical reaction, so measurements are helpful.
20 grams henna, 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar and essentail oil.
Mix and let sit for 24 hours.
This is for Jamila henna.
The consistency should not need much tweaking, it works for us everyday of the week.
It would be somuch fun if you do come so you can visit and relax with us.

This is a total immersion henna workshop.
THere will be nonstop hennaing and free henna to do so for all participants.
We will provide our top quality dark staining long lasting henna all weekend long.
In addition we are planning some great craft projects, delicious food, and great classes to help everyone learn and improve their henna skills.
Whether you are a beginner or master henna artist I am sure you will learn a tip or two and make lots of new friends.
I can't wait.

Since I'm going to be moving to Austin now, instead of Germany, it looks like there might be a teeny tiny chance I could attend this wonderfully helpful event.
I'd like to clarify a few things- basically the cost is $200 plus the cost of transport to the area and the cost of lodging, correct?
Is there a maximum number of people you are going to allow to attend? If so how many spots are left?
Also, is lunch time Sunday when the weekend will end? Curious so I know if I'd be able to make an early evening flight back home on Sunday.
Thanks!

Austin, that is esciting, best of luck on the drive there to you and yours.
ANd yes, you are correct on the cost, $200.00 , plus lodging , perhaps share with other attendees.
ANd of course your transport.
Lunchtime sunday is the ending , sadly, to the weekend classes.
Henna Caravan has never been able to stay for an entire workshop conference so this will be a first for us to be able to attend the entire thing since we are hosting.
It would be great if you can come, try for Burbank airport, it is much easier to get to, and faster, and easier.
Of course, Oxnard it great, but not many flights .

I see what you mean about Burbank. It's actually a bit cheaper for me to fly into Oxnard and it's a little closer to Camarillo than Burbank so will make for a shorter drive as well. Thanks for the idea though.
By the way, what about the maximum number of participants for the conference?

Sorry, the number of participants staying in my house is limited, that space is all filled already.
But there is still lots of room for attendees to attend the classes and workshops and then sleep in a motel.
There is still plenty of space for non sleep-over attendees.

Flavia, I'm sorry for the confusion. I wasn't asking about staying at your home. What I was trying to ask is how many people will be able to attend the workshop and conference itself? The reason I'm trying to clarify this and find out how many spaces are left is because I may not know for a month or two if I will be able to come for sure or not and I'd like to have an idea if there will still be a chance for me to sign up for the conference then or if all of the spots are likely to be filled up by then. Hopefully this is more clear. Thank you.

I am sorry, I was confused.
So now that we have both apologized and are not confused, please do not worry. We have plenty of room for all who are interested in the workshops, etc., theoretically , unless the masses decided to be involved with this "strange" art form.
I know you are interested, so no worries, there is room for you.
I am not putting a cap on it unless things change.

Hello!
I'm totally planning on coming to this. I just have a question.
Do you know approximately what time things will be beginning and ending each day?
I live in LA, and I want to figure out if it's worth it for me to drive back and forth each day, or if it would be more beneficial for me to get a hotel.
Thanks.

Hi Sara,
we won't begin till 9 or 10 or maybe even 11 depending on the group in the mornings.
The official 'stuff' will probably go on till about dinner time at 6-7
After that is all the laying about hennaing each other, sharing tips, spying on fellow artists set up and style. Sneaking tips and chatting till about midnight. Or that's how these kind of conferences have usually worked out in the past.
Depending on where you are, the drive isn't bad. Hollywood without traffic is about 45-50 minutes straight shot on the 101.

WE will have a schedule and at least on the first day we will stick to it. IF we start behind, we stay behind. HAve you ever tried to corral a laughing, talking, hennaing bunch of ladies? it is nearly impossible.
They will stop for food , coffee, and more henna though!
Meals will be served according to schedule just to keep us managing the time better.
With the formal classes not being held in the evenings, that is a great time for one on one tutoring or tip gathering from the staff.

Thanks to Jessica and Flavia for the information!
Hey, not a bad drive at all, and I can do 9am if I prepare for it (I'm a graveyard shifter!).
Sounds great. I will be signing up next payday.
Thanks again
