About Henna Caravan

Founded in 1997 by Jessica McQueen, Henna Caravan is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of Mehndi, a form of ancient body decoration that was rapidly dying out in popular cultures around the world.

We import only the freshest, natural henna powder available and hand mix the paste ourselves with lemon juice and fragrant aromatherapy grade essential oils for each appointment. Our product contains NO chemical dyes, preservatives or additives and is generally safe for use during pregnancy and with children. Consult your doctor if you have specific concerns.

Henna is NOT black! 'Black henna' may have dangerous dyes or chemicals added that can cause permanent scarring or internal damage.

Henna Caravan's traveling team of highly trained artists provide a memorable addition to any occasion. Our personalized designs are hand drawn allowing us to create something unique for everyone. From traditional, to fanciful, to contemporary, our designs allow you to express yourself.

Henna Caravan can accommodate any size event from the most discerning corporate affair to the small and intimate party in your home, public events with attendance over 100,000 or sindividual appointments.

We have grown to include a team of up to 13 wonderful and talented women. A proud family business with several teams of mothers, daughters, sisters, and 3 sets of cousins all working together to provide a pampering experience for your next event. We carry liability insurance for your ease of mind for every event we participate in.

About our Artists

Jessica

With a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from California College of Arts Jessica founded Henna Caravan in 1997. She creates beautiful custom designs inspired by the art of the African and European continents and focuses on bridal/wedding henna and henna during pregnancy.

During the week Jessica manages the Retail/Wholesale Product and Sales portion of Henna Caravan.

Carissa

A vivacious and silly henna artist, she has been honing her henna skills since 1999 and creates lovely, tiny, tight patterns for those wanting a more delicate touch. Carissa is pursuing a degree at UCSB, is a competitive Irish step dancer, artist, and musician-singer who has lots of energy to keep the henna flowing at your special event. She is fantastic with children and enjoys intimate private events where she can pamper your guests and chat about henna and its history.

Claire

A wonderful and sweet henna artist joined Henna Caravan in 2000. Claire has dedicated many years to studying ballet and is currently a student at UC Berkeley. She is available in the Bay Area for private events and will join our team in Southern California during breaks. She is skilled at creating custom patterns and modifications to suit each client.

Sammi

This casual and focused artist can handle the busiest events and is perfect for corporate fundraisers or loud sweet sixteens. Sammi keeps the line moving while providing lovely henna patterns for all the guests.

Danielle

This most patient artist has a lovely way with children and teens. She is fabulous with Bar Mitzvahs and High School events. Danielle is currently working towards a Masters Degree in Teaching and still finds time to come out and henna, she has worked with Henna Caravan since 2002.

Kendra

An outgoing and fun artist, Kendra joined the Henna Caravan team in 2004. She is great at getting the high school boys at Grad Nights and festivals involved with henna. Irreverent and fun she is a great choice for your fast paced high energy events.

Catherine

A friendly, creative henna artist who puts everybody at ease. Between her time spent living in France and Italy while studying at Pepperdine, Catherine provides great henna services, she has been with Henna Caravan since 2000.

Jenna

Jenna joined the team in 2005 and has been assisting with the management of festivals and large events as well as applying henna designs. She is wonderful with children!

Christina

Christina has been assisting with the management of festivals and large events since 1998 and has joined us in applying henna designs this season. Her specialty is the unusual geometric patterns of Morocco and Northern Africa.

Flavia

Flavia is Henna Caravans fantastic manager! She offers superior site management and crowd organization while patiently explaining the henna process, answers questions, prepares our customers skin for henna application, provides detailed directions and assistance with aftercare processes.

During the week Flavia oversees the mail order and shipping of the Retail/Wholesale Product and Sales portion of Henna Caravan as well as Product Research and Development.

Louise, Stephanie, Christina and Stacey provide great site management and crowd organization. They are available to patiently explain the henna process, answer questions, prepare our customers skin for henna application, provide detailed directions and assistance with aftercare processes.

When site managers are able to assist with events henna artists can focus on painting designs while customers are cared for. Site managers can speed everything up allowing us to service guests much more efficiently. Our fabulous site managers' assistance results in more henna designs per hour while maintaining a relaxing experience for our customers.
